1 Thess 4:10-12

October 16, 2008

Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life,

to mind your own business and

to work with your hands, just as we told you,

so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders

and so that you will not be dependent on anybody

“Do all that is in your heart; turn yourself,

and here I am with you according to your desire”

1 Samuel 14:7

Ought I not say also to my husband.

But Thou O Lord are a shield about me

My glory and the one who lifts my head.

I was crying to the Lord with my voice,

And He answered me from His holy mountain.

The Great Exchange

September 26, 2008

We exchange our weariness for His strength.

Our weakness for His power

Our darkness for His light

Our problems for His solutions

Our burdens for His freedom

Our frustrations for His peace

Our turmoil for His calm

Our hopes for His promises

Our afflictions for His balm of comfort

Our questions for His answers

Our confusion for His knowledge

Our doubts for His assurance

Our nothingness for His awesomeness

The temporal for the eternal

And the impossible for the possible.

-excerpt from A Woman After God’s Own Heart by Elizabeth George

“It may cost us everything to do something,

But it will cost us more to do nothing;”

– Mike Huckabee, Central Oregon Men’s Summit, Sept. 2008

Make No Mistake

September 20, 2008

Being perplexed I say,

Lord make it right.

Nights is as day to Thee,

Darkness is light.

I am afraid to touch

Things that involve so much  –

My trembling hand may shake

My skill-less hand may break

Thine can make no mistake.

Tablet of Your Heart

September 19, 2008

My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments, for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you.

Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart.

So you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.

Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD, and turn away from evil.

To Your Heart From His

September 18, 2008

Blessed are the poor in spirit,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
        Blessed are those who mourn,
For they shall be comforted.
        Blessed are the meek,
For they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
For they shall be filled.
        Blessed are the merciful,
For they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart,
For they shall see God.
        Blessed are the peacemakers,
For they shall be called sons of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Prayer

September 18, 2008

Psalm 5:3-4

“In the morning O Lord, Thou wilt hear my voice;

In the morning I will order my prayer to Thee and eagerly watch.”

I will lift my prayer, and enthusiastically anticipate an answer.
